M.Eng. Mechanical Engineering with a Year Abroad Full-time

Year: 3
2025/26 Session

Students must pass all modules.

If a student fails to meet these conditions they cannot be awarded an accredited degree at the end of their programme, under the Engineering Council’s policy on Compensation and Condonement. They will therefore need to be transferred to an unaccredited programme.

Additionally, to progress to Stage III of MEng Mechanical Engineering with a Year Abroad, a student is required to have passed all credits and to have a Stage II average mark of at least 59.5%. Failing to obtain an average mark of 59.5% but obtaining an average mark of at least 55% means a student progresses to MEng Mechanical Engineering, and failing this criterion means a student progresses to a BEng.

A student who has not passed all credits but has passed 220 credits in stages I and II will be transferred to the unaccredited MSci Mechanical Engineering with a Year Abroad programme if they achieve a Stage II average mark of at at least 59.5%; for these students failing to obtain average mark of 59.5% but obtaining an average mark of at least 55% means a student progresses to MSci Mechanical Engineering, and failing this criterion means a student progresses to a BSc.

Students must pass a module equivalent to the Multi- Disciplinary Design Project during the Year Abroad as part of the accreditation requirements.
